PSAT

The PSAT is typically given each October at Rosman High School but due to restrictions from Covid, the PSAT was not given this year.  However we will participate in the PSAT 10 on March 23rd at RHS.  Sophomores who are interested must contact the counseling office by January 28th to secure testing materials.

  • The PSAT is a preliminary-SAT test, designed to give high school students a chance to practice their reading and math skills needed for the SAT exam required for entrance to any 4 year college or university. Please encourage students to take the test seriously!
  • RHS students or home school students wanting to take the PSAT should contact Ms. Shawver or sign-up in the guidance office by the set deadlines. Students are responsible for paying the $18 order fee if they are interested in testing.  If you request a test to be ordered but are absent from testing, reimbursements will not be made. Please make checks payable to Rosman High School.
  • Students who would like to be eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Competition must take the PSAT (in October) of their Junior year. More information about this competition is available @ www.nationalmerit.org

The most common reasons for taking the PSAT/NMSQT are to:

  • Receive feedback on your strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study. You can then focus your preparation on those areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice.
  • See how your performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to college.
  • Enter the competition for scholarships from NMSC (grade 11).
  • Help prepare for the SAT. You can become familiar with the kinds of questions and the exact directions you will see on the SAT.
  • Receive information from colleges when you check "yes" to Student Search Service.
